There’s something to be said for being at the right place at the right time, but for the most part, success doesn’t come easy. Success and opportunities take a lot of hard work! Successful people have all different personalities, but it is found that they are more similar that you would think, no matter how different they may seem.
10 Habits of Successful People
1. Successful people are persistent, embrace failure, and try again every time.
As we all very well know, things don’t always turn out how we would expect, or hope, and when this happens, successful people get back up and try again. They understand that failure is a stepping stone to success. Persistence and a positive attitude are critical!
2. Successful people are organized.
Organization is one of the most common traits attributed to successful people. They have mastered planning and setting priorities and goals. These are often daily goals, as well as long term goals.
3. Successful people are purpose and goal oriented.
Eighty percent of the wealthy are “obsessed with pursuing goals”, according to Tom Corley, an accountant and financial planner, who surveyed 233 wealthy individuals, mostly self-made millionaires. It was found that they focus on both daily and long-term goals regularly. Purpose gives people direction. Without it, you end up living by somebody else’s standards, or just follow their purpose, never living up to your full potential.
4. Successful people take risks.
Successful people take risks, but they don’t take thoughtless risks, they take “calculated risks”. In taking these risks, they look at the pros and cons. They look at the worst case scenario, best case scenario, and most likely outcome when taking the risk. Let’s be real… very few, if any, people have become successful by playing it safe and being average.
5. Successful people take action.
Successful people act! They do it quickly and often. It is important to be organized, to plan and set goals, but without action, a plan is nothing more than potential.
The importance of communication is to build credibility and influence others, including customers, employees, peers, bosses, and other stakeholders. It seems like a no-brainier, but the importance of effective communication is often overlooked.
Self-control is crucial for success! The good thing is, it is a skill that you can strengthen with work. With success, you will often have to give up things that might be fun right now in order to enjoy things that will be rewarding in the future. People with high levels of self-control have better time management skills, are thoughtful in their decisions, and productive with their work.
8. Successful people stick to routines.
You will find that many of the most successful people wake up early and have a morning routine that they do daily. This gets them started on the right foot to tackle the day and feel like they are focused and on track. Some also have a nightly routine that helps them wrap up the day and prepare them for the next day’s challenges and rewards.
9. Successful people enjoy reading.
Science shows that reading can boost your success! Many of the world’s most successful people, including Bill Gates, are avid readers. Spending 30 minutes a day reading to stay up on world matters, learning something new, or for self improvement can play a huge role in your success.
10. Successful people exercise.
Exercising daily is a great way to reset your mind and maintain the energy levels needed to stay focused throughout the day. Making exercise a staple of every day activity will help you tackle the most important challenges you’ll face. It will help optimize brain power and physical endurance.
