Did you say 40?!?!
Yep… yesterday signified my 40th birthday! INSANE! It’s crazy to think that I have been on this amazing earth for 40… YEARS! Looking back, I have been so fortunate. I have had innumerable amazing experiences, an incredible family and friends, lots of laughter and love around me, and good health throughout the years, more or less. Not everyone can say these things, and I recognize that. I am truly BEYOND GRATEFUL!!!
A Big Bash For My 40th???
Nope… This is about how my day went…
- Enjoyed a big hike with my pup and dear friend.
- Had a lovely lunch with my dear friend
- Rode my fabulous horse.
- Came home to our amazing place in Lake Tahoe to have a quiet, intimate, dinner at our favorite local spot with the best husband a girl could ask for. (SURPRISE! He had friends there to surprise me!)
What more could I ask for?
I know… I know… Many people are blown away thinking that I should have done something grand, but truthfully, it was a perfect day for me. We will soon be celebrating with those close to us in July for something even more exciting than my 40th. In all honesty… I have already gotten the best gift I could ask for for my 40th birthday.
Best Gift Ever At 40? Do Tell!
Yep, you heard me right, BEST… GIFT… EVER! This 40th birthday not only did I celebrate turning 40, but also becoming parents in September! You got it… I’m 40 and PREGNANT! Some heads may be spinning, but it is happening and we couldn’t be happier. It has been a LOOOOONG road to get here, and that is putting it mildly. HAHA!
Some of you may be thinking, “good lord… starting a family at 40?!” I totally get it! Many people are dealing with kids in high school, or college at 40. Some may even be empty nesters by now. Well, if you know me, I never really followed anyone’s timeline, and I wouldn’t take it back for anything. I’ve gotten to live in Europe, travel all over the place, build a great career, live in multiple places that are vacation to many, among other things. Some people wondered if I would ever settle down, but I did, in my own time. Better late than never, right?! HA!
What’s Your Perfect 40th?
I write this not to criticize ANYONE on how they chose to celebrate their 40th birthday, or any other major milestone for that matter. People are in different places in life at different times and that is TOTALLY OKAY! Actually, it is a good thing. It helps keep things interesting.
