Do you want optimal results from your skincare regimen?
In my experience, bouncing from skincare regimen to skincare regimen can deliver less than optimal results. Let your skin see all the benefits from a full regimen that has been proven to work. Not giving your chosen regimen time to work, or adding something from another regimen, may disrupt your progress.
When using a quality skincare regimen that has been developed by dermatologists, the individual components are designed to work together. This is to avoid any possible side effects and maximize the results of the product line. There is careful consideration and science behind developing a skincare regimen and a reason for each step involved.
3 Things To Consider When Changing Your Skincare Regimen
1. Stick with the same product line – Oftentimes the same brand will use similar bases in each regimen that they offer, so if you are adding something to target another concern, it is important that you stay with the same product line to avoid reactions and maximize your results.
2. A slow transition to a new regimen is best – Start with just once every other day. If you switch to another regimen and notice increased sensitivity or have any flare-ups from a single product, don’t worry. Return to your previous regimen for a week or two and try again. You can always go back to your previous regimen.
3. Always apply to a small patch of your skin when introducing a new product – Before applying the new regimen to your whole face, it’s best to see if you will have a reaction in a small spot first.
Our skin’s needs can vary based on the time of the month, the weather, and how well-rested we are… and our skincare regimens should adapt.
Maybe you spent more time outdoors over the summer and are seeing some sun spots on your skin that weren’t there before, so you decided to use a regimen that would treat those stubborn spots. In the middle of this process, you begin to notice some fine lines and wrinkles, so you add in an overnight restorative cream to your regimen treating those lines and wrinkles. This is fine to do, but you always want to continue with the regimen that you are following to battle those dark spots until you reach your goal.
Things to keep in mind when it comes to your skincare regimen
1. Beautiful skin takes time – Let’s be honest with ourselves. Skin doesn’t change overnight, just like any other long term goal. It takes consistency and patience to achieve lasting goals. You should always do a solid 30-60 days on the regimen that targets your main skin concern. Depending on the severity of your skincare concerns, it could take up to 90 days to really see your desired results.
2. Prevention is more rewarding and more affordable – Sticking with a daily skincare routine will save you money in the long run. Skin problems like deep wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, acne, or other skin issues can be prevented with a daily skin care routine. Wouldn’t you want to prevent costly trips to the dermatologist or plastic surgeon in the future and have consistently beautiful skin?
3. Good skin boosts confidence – Having good skin can make or break someone’s confidence. Having beautiful skin can make you feel good about yourself and going out in public, even on a bad hair day. Being consistent with a skincare regimen that targets what you want most will give you that year round glow!
