Transition From Your Winter Skincare To Your Spring Skincare Needs
After months of snow, slush, and frigid temperatures, spring is finally here! Ladies and gentleman, winter has left the building, taking with it our dry and itchy skin. While we’ve spent the first part of 2019 layering on balms and oils, warmer air and increased humidity mean our skin is about to be in for a shock. Goodbye winter! It’s time we detoxify our dry and itchy skin to make way for the bonus moisture that comes with the new season.
What To Swap Out Or Add To Your Spring Skincare Routine
Swap your creams for something that is a little lighter. Heavy creams have lipids that stick to the skin and repair your dry winter skin barrier. When that skin barrier is already healthy, however, the extra lipids to the skin can cause clogged pores and pimples. My go-to? This hydration serum is one of my absolute FAVORITES!!!
Up your SPF to 50. While using a moisturizer with an SPF 30 is fine for winter, using a sunscreen that’s at least SPF 50 is key in the warmer months. Make sure it is separate from any SPF in your lotion and makeup.
Get that springtime glow with an exfoliation. During the winter, skin becomes dull so using a gentle scrub to slough off dead skin and unblock pores will leave your complexion feel super-smooth and radiant.
Lighten up on that foundation. Luckily, spring and summer’s makeup routine is simple, and tinted moisturizer makes a perfect substitute for a heavy foundation. My favorite is a tinted, multitasking liquid formula that protects AND instantly perfects your skin. It’s a no brainer… you get two benefits in one product! Click here to CHECK IT OUT! Added bonus… you can “try it on” with a tool to help find your perfect shade.
Another Friendly Tip for Sensational Springtime Skin…
Hit the mall or cute boutiques for some sun protecting hats! For example a broad-rimmed hat, which protects the face and scalp from sun damage. If that isn’t your style, grab a ball cap… especially when working out outdoors! If you know you’ll be exercising outside and sweating, you can add some UV-protected clothing for extra protection. All of this is in addition to your sunscreen, of course.
